Summer Innocence
“Summer Innocence” was taken on March 18, 2022. It was an unusually hot day, so we went to a local lake to play in the sand. I had been taking pictures of the baby by the water, and as I was packing up my camera, my 3 year-old came over, put his arm around his baby sister and started talking to her about ducks. I pulled my camera back out and captured this perfect shot.

Just Enjoy the Sunset
“Just Enjoy the Sunset” was taken on July 27, 2019. We were attending an annual BBQ on a lake that has been happening amongst my father’s friends for 35 years in a row. As the sun set, my Dad decided that he wanted to go for a swim. I caught this shot of him watching the brilliant colors in the sky as the sun dipped down into the lake.

The Calm Before the Storm
“The Calm Before the Storm’” was taken on May 15, 2022. We took the kids to a local carnival on a bright sunny day. We were surprised when the sky suddenly darkened, and an unexpected storm rolled in. We let my son get in one last ride before running back to the car.

It's All a Blur
“It’s All a Blur” was taken on May 20, 2016. I visited a local carnival that I had been attending since I was a child. I set up my tripod in front of the Ferris wheel and let a slow shutter speed capture the motion of the lights in the darkness.

Orbiter
“Orbiter” was taken on May 20, 2016 at a carnival in Massachusetts. This image is a composite image that replicates what I saw with my naked eye, but my Nikon D7200 struggled to capture. A large super moon rose over a local carnival and dazzled the crowd. I set my camera on a tripod and took one long exposure shot to capture the movement of the carnival ride. I then took a second shot to expose for and capture the details in the full moon. I pasted the crisper shot of the moon over its blown out glow in the long exposure image.

American Glow
“American Glow” was taken on July 1, 2018. I was 6 months pregnant, but I ventured out on a hot summer night with my Nikon D7200 and a tripod slung over my shoulder. I crouched in the grass to capture long exposure shots of a Massachusetts fireworks display while my husband fretted over me.

The Grand Finale
“The Grand Finale” was taken on July 1, 2018. I attended my town’s annual 4th of July Fireworks display.
Using slow shutter speeds, I was able to capture the colorful streaks of light produced by the fireworks in the night sky.
