Tulips

Tezos NFT Collection by Lauren McDonagh-Pereira

Tulips is a photography NFT collection by Lauren McDonagh-Pereira.  Inspired by macro photographers I had met in web3, I spent the Spring of 2022 exploring the world of macro photography in my own backyard.

Each piece is minted on the Tezos blockchain, and can be found on Objkt.com or you can collect a fine art print shipped directly to your home through Printify.

Sweet as Wine

I created this image on April 22, 2022 in my backyard garden in the United States. Inspired by macro artists in the NFT photography Twitterverse, I planted a garden, bought a macro lens, and started exploring.

I laid down in the dirt of my garden, pointed my camera upwards and shot the beautifully detailed underside of this beauty.

Beleaf in Me

I created this image on April 22, 2022.

The leaves of my tulips had a delicate purple stripe along their edges. I created this image with a sliver of light coming through the slats of my fence.

Let Your Light Shine Through

I created this image on April 22, 2022.

This lovely tulip had just begun to bloom, as the early evening light made it glow from within.

Bloom with Me

I created this image on March 31, 2022.

The tulip leaves had just started to unfurl when I bought my macro lens. This image is my favorite shot from my second day of exploring the wonderful world of macro photography.

Lost in the Crowd

I created this image on April 7, 2022.

My best friend, who has been in my life since we were four years old, gifted me a bouquet of tulips for my birthday. She knew that I had begun exploring macro flower photography and brought me this perfect gift.

I'm Not Ready

I created this image on March 31, 2022.

As the tulips emerged from the ground, I watched with excitement to see what would bloom. I documented each stage of the flowers’ emergence with my macro lens.

Hold Me Close

I created this image on April 30, 2022.

For the first time in my life, I took the time to explore how the petals of the tulips overlapped and gently caressed each other. It was exciting to see flowers in a new way with my macro lens.

The Grass is Always Greener

I created this image on April 25, 2022.

I was amazed by the unique patterns on each individual tulip. I enjoyed exploring the myriad patterns and swirls of color on each flower.

Let Me In

I created this image on April 30, 2022.

I enjoyed the overlapping embrace of the petals before the tulips fully opened. The tulips were keeping a secret, and I wanted to see what was inside.

Gentle Embrace

I created this image on April 30, 2022.

I was fascinated by the contrast between the strong colors and the delicate petals. It was amazing to see something so fragile, and yet so vivid.

Reach for More

I created this image on April 25, 2022.

As the tulips opened, their petals spread and reached for every shred of sunlight. Their lives were brief, but they reached out for life while they lasted.

I Have Arrived

I created this image on April 27, 2022.

My favorite way to view the tulips was to lay in dirt and shoot up at them. Never in my life have I observed tulips from below. There is so much to discover from unusual angles.

Hold Me Softly

I created this image on May 1, 2022.

The best part of having a garden in my own yard was my ability to explore the flowers in different lighting conditions throughout their brief lives. Early one evening, I was struck by the soft light gently kissing the petals of the tulips.

I Won't Last

I created this image on May 1, 2022.

In New England, the lives of tulips are very brief. I planted them in November, watched them sprout through March and April, and only got to enjoy them for two weeks before they wilted away. Perhaps that is what photography is all about; trying to hold tight to the ephemeral beauty of tiny moments while they last.

I'm Falling Apart

I created this image on May 1, 2022.

Nothing lasts forever. Flowers bloom and fade, leaving only a memory in their wakes.

I Have a Secret

I created this image on April 25, 2022.

The delicate layers of tulip petals seemed to hold secrets within. There was texture and color that I had never noticed before.

All that Remains

I created this image on May 11, 2022.

As the tulips wilted, I collected the petals that had dropped to the ground. Together they created new beautiful chaos.

The Ghost

Tulips are beautiful and ephemeral. They bring joy and announce the coming of spring, and then like a dream, they quickly fade away.

Dancing Dreamer

Tulips dance in the wind. We dream of warmer days. They come. They go. They celebrate. They fade.
